Flatwork
Patios, driveways, sidewalks and flatwork
Not every job needs a stamp. Plenty of what we pour is straight, clean, well-finished concrete — done to spec, on grade, with the steel actually in it.
Why homeowners pick Keen for this
Built to city standard
Driveway aprons and sidewalks in the public right-of-way have real requirements here — bar size, thickness, expansion joint material, flare width. We build to them and schedule the inspection.
Tear-out and replace
Cracked, sunken or sixty years old — we demo the old slab, haul it off, fix the base and pour you a new one.
Reinforced properly
Rebar or mesh sized to the job, chaired up off the ground where it belongs, and control joints cut on time so the slab cracks where we tell it to.
Color
Color Seal, over knockdown texture.
The cool-deck finish is a sprayed knockdown texture sealed in color. The H2Cool line is the one built to stay easier underfoot in the sun — worth knowing before you fall for a shade that only comes in the standard series.

Tap a color to see which series it comes in.
These are a starting point, not a match. Screens lie about color, and so do printed cards — the chart's own fine print says a card can't be used for a final choice. Cure, weather, sun and the slab underneath all move the finished shade. Pick two or three you like here, and we'll spray real samples on your concrete before anything else happens.
Colors are shown over a sprayed knockdown texture, which is how we apply them on a pool deck. Over a different surface — a smooth slab, an overlay, an older deck — the same color reads differently.
Color Seal is made by Innovative Concrete Technology. Custom color matching is available on the Pro 220 series, and White is offered but not shown here.
How it goes
01
Measure, quote and permit
We measure, price it as one fixed number, and pull the permit when the work touches the right-of-way.
02
Demo and haul-off
Old concrete out, base graded and compacted. Bad base is the reason most driveways fail early.
03
Forms, steel and inspection
Forms set to line and grade, steel tied, expansion joints placed — then the city inspects before any concrete is poured.
04
Pour and finish
Broom, trowel or texture finish to match the rest of your property, with joints cut the same day.
05
Cure and clean up
We protect the fresh work, tell you exactly when you can walk it and drive on it, and leave the site clean.
What you pay, and when
One honest, fixed price, itemized in writing before we start. Half at signing and half at completion — no progress-payment ladder, no change-order surprises unless you ask us to change something. Keen work carries a one-year workmanship warranty; cracking, color variation and efflorescence are inherent to concrete and are excluded, and we say that up front rather than in the fine print.

Patios, Driveways & Sidewalks care sheet
One page on how to look after it, what will damage it, when to re-seal, and which bits of concrete behaviour are normal rather than a defect. We hand you this on the day; it is here so you can find it again in three years.
Questions
Straight answers, before you call.
When can I drive on a new driveway?
We will give you the exact dates for your pour. As a rule of thumb, foot traffic comes first and vehicles wait considerably longer — driving on it early is the fastest way to ruin work you just paid for.
Do I need a permit?
For work in the public right-of-way — driveway aprons and city sidewalks — yes, and there are specific standards for rebar, thickness, expansion joints and flares. We handle the permit and schedule the inspection; nothing gets poured until it is approved.
Can you match my existing concrete?
We can get close on finish and texture. Exact color matching to an old slab is not realistic — concrete ages and weathers — so we will usually suggest a clean break at a joint rather than a patch that will always look like a patch.
Do you do small jobs?
Yes. Sidewalks, slabs for a shed or hot tub, a set of steps, an approach. Call and tell us what you have.
